Last week, the Rotary Club of Antioch Illinois delivered food baskets to over 75 families in need within the local area. The baskets were filled with enough groceries for several meals plus the makings for a traditional Christmas Dinner.
Households are identified by the Antioch Township Office and receive a “basket” Thanksgiving week and again Christmas week.
One recipient commented “Thank you so much! This year really kicked my butt. This food is so needed.”
The over $12,000 value for both deliveries is covered mostly by Rotary Club of Antioch and Rotary District 6440.
Additional support comes from local partnerships including: Piggy Wiggly store discount along with the space for storing filled baskets for distributing to Rotarians; coordination with Open Arms Mission local food pantry; High School District 117 Interact Club students loading the Rotarian vehicles with the baskets for delivery: and Uline donation of the “basket” boxes
The Holiday Basket program has become a tradition for the club with making the holiday deliveries for over two decades.
We are always looking for Action Oriented individuals to join in these community service efforts. If you are interested in helping this program with a donation or learning how to become a member, please contact one of us using the contact list to the right.
